Jacob Higman, LMSW (He/Him)
In today’s world, it can be difficult to fully open up and feel safe being your authentic self; having a strong therapeutic alliance can support you in this journey. My approach is centered on earning trust through consistency, compassion, curiosity, and respect. I strive to meet clients where they are emotionally and psychologically, without pushing too fast or moving too slowly. Your needs help guide the pace of therapy, while I use collaborative feedback and clarifying questions to ensure we remain aligned throughout the process. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore both challenges and growth.
I integrate approaches such as Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) depending on each client’s individual goals and needs. I have a particular passion for supporting individuals navigating chronic pain, chronic illness, disability, and medical trauma. I understand how physical health challenges can affect identity, relationships, self-esteem, autonomy, and emotional well-being. I aim to provide a validating, collaborative, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. If you are looking for a compassionate, approachable therapist who values authenticity and creating a space where you can openly talk about what is truly bothering you, I welcome you to reach out.
